VOTE INDEPENDENT FOR ST IVES 
Dear Elector, 
I am appealing for you to vote for me in the forthcoming election as your 
representative on Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC). 
I am one of 10 Independent Councillors on St Ives Town Council, but St Ives is 
represented in the 5 District Council seats only by Conservative Councillors. 
St Ives needs an Independent voice on the District Council. 
St Ives has suffered from chronic over-development in recent years with scant 
regard for the town’s infrastructure. The result is congested roads and the 
destruction of our trees. This is a challenging time for our local retailers, yet car 
parking charges continue to rise. Local facilities such as the public toilets in the 
North Road car park are being stripped away (although the Town Council has 
intervened to keep the bus station toilets open). 
St Ives will now lose the HDC office from the town centre which District Councillors 
have decided to close. This is a vital facility for many senior and disabled citizens. 
However the offices in St. Neots and Ramsey are being kept open! 
There has been no consultation. 
- How often do you hear from your current District Councillors? 
- Where were they when these decisions affecting St Ives were being made? 
- How seriously do you think you have been consulted, or even informed? 
Three years ago I was a thorn in HDC’s side when I ensured that there was 
adequate consultation with our retailers when HDC wanted to rebuild the town 
centre. I will be the Independent voice for St Ives at the District Council and will 
- make sure you are kept abreast of what is happening. 
- fight for what is right for our town and vote independently of a party whip. 
- communicate with you effectively and regularly – not just at election times. 
My duty is to you and not to a political party. We have a choice between the past 
and the future. I invite you to consider me when making your choice.
